This privacy policy applies to the GroqBoard app (hereby referred to as "Application") for Android mobile devices and Wear OS, created by Alex Goldberg (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a Commercial service. This service is intended for use "AS IS".
The Application contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting software. The Service Provider operates no servers for the Application and therefore collects no personal information from it: no account, no identifiers, no usage statistics, and no copy of your audio, transcriptions or text.
Everything the Application stores stays on your device: your API keys, your settings and custom vocabulary, your learned typing data, and your recent transcription history.
The Application does, however, send data to the third-party AI providers you choose, because that is how transcription and AI editing work. That flow is described in detail under Third-Party AI Services below, and it is the most important section of this policy.
This website (groqboard.com) is separate from the Application and uses Google Analytics to measure visits.
The Application requires access to your device's microphone to provide its core functionality as a voice-powered keyboard. Here's how we use this permission:
The Application uses the overlay permission to display a floating voice dictation bubble over other apps. This allows you to dictate text in any app without switching keyboards.
The Application offers an optional Accessibility Service to enhance the floating bubble functionality. This permission is NOT required for the core keyboard to work. Here's how it is used:

The Application keeps a short list of your most recent transcriptions so you can copy or reuse them. This history is stored only on your device, is capped at the 5 most recent entries, and is never transmitted to the Service Provider or any third party. You can clear it from Settings, or by clearing the Application's data.
The Application includes an optional Wear OS companion for smartwatches:
GroqBoard is a front-end for third-party AI services. It has no servers of its own: every AI feature works by sending your data directly from your device to the provider you choose, authenticated with an API key that you create and enter yourself. The Service Provider never sees, receives, proxies or stores that data, and cannot access your provider account.
Depending on which features you use and which providers you select in Settings, the following data may leave your device:
Each provider processes this data under its own privacy policy and terms of service, which govern retention and whether data may be used for model training. You are entering into that relationship directly with them through your own account, so please review the policies linked above before enabling a provider. Providers you have not configured with an API key receive nothing.
The Application does not send your data to any AI service other than the ones listed above, and no data is sent to any of them unless you have entered an API key for that provider and used a feature that requires it.
The Application does not gather precise information about the location of your mobile device. The Application does not use your data for advertising, and does not sell or share your personal information with data brokers.
Because the Application sends no data to the Service Provider, there is normally nothing for the Service Provider to disclose. In the limited case of information you send directly by email (for example a support request), the Service Provider may disclose it:
GroqBoard offers a one-time in-app purchase ("GroqBoard Premium") processed by Google Play Billing. We do not store payment information. Purchases are subject to Google Play's terms of service.
You can stop all collection of information by the Application easily by uninstalling it. You may use the standard uninstall processes as may be available as part of your mobile device or via the mobile application marketplace or network. You can also revoke individual permissions (microphone, overlay, accessibility) at any time through your device's settings.
The Service Provider holds no data from the Application, so there is nothing on their side to retain or delete. Your API keys, settings, custom vocabulary, learned prediction data and transcription history live only on your device, and you delete them by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it. Data you have already sent to a third-party AI provider is retained according to that provider's policy and can be managed through your account with them. If you have emailed the Service Provider and want that correspondence deleted, write to [email protected] and they will respond in a reasonable time.
The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13.
The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. The Service Provider encourages all children to never submit any personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services. The Service Provider encourages parents and legal guardians to monitor their children's Internet usage and to help enforce this Policy by instructing their children never to provide personally identifiable information through the Application and/or Services without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personally identifiable information to the Service Provider through the Application and/or Services, please contact the Service Provider ([email protected]) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions. You must also be at least 16 years of age to consent to the processing of your personally identifiable information in your country (in some countries we may allow your parent or guardian to do so on your behalf).
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. The Service Provider provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains. Your API keys (Groq, OpenRouter and Soniox) are stored locally on your device using Android's SharedPreferences and are never transmitted to the Service Provider's servers. They are sent only to the corresponding provider, over an encrypted connection, to authenticate your own requests.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes to the Privacy Policy by updating this page with the new Privacy Policy. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
By using the Application, you are consenting to the processing of your information as set forth in this Privacy Policy now and as amended by us.
